Sadness

Sadness

A Poem by Dane V. Loviel

Sadness
Piercing, seething, throbbing sadness
My chest constricted, every breath a fight against myself
And although my heart keeps beating, there is no life in my veins
Sadness
The sun outside taunts me, for I have no warmth in me
An icy hand is sifting through my memories, stirring up pain and tears
I see no color, only grey
Sadness
It chokes out all other feelings
A boundless human prison
It needs no walls to keep me in
Sadness
There is nothing else

A poem that causes the reader great empathy! Interesting structure and emphasis on onomatopoeic words.

I love "an icy hand is shifting through my memories"! I would work on putting in more images of this kind and in general.
