A Poem by DoormanDan
"

Sometimes, it seems like all you can do is beg the departed for guidance

"
Afterimages

Screams stillborn
Liberate me from your scorn
Wasteland war-torn
Give salvation to the forlorn

Chimeras circle overhead
As despoliation and dolor spread
How can my willpower withstand
The mires of this No Man's Land?

I'm dining with Disaster tonight
As the ether oozes with ichor
Afterimages, please grant me foresight
Before my heart is ravaged by Rancor

Dreams deformed
By a lush life left lovelorn
Refuse reform
In the abhorrence I adorn

My morality is misled
As I swiftly sink to the riverbed
Frightened and forcibly fractured
I'm waiting to be savagely slaughtered

I'm dining with Disaster tonight
As the ether oozes with ichor
Afterimages, please grant me foresight
Before my heart is ravaged by Rancor

Wayward wishes mercilessly molest my mind
As my sullen soul is left battered and blind
Wayward wishes mercilessly molest my mind
As my sullen soul is left battered and blind

I'm dining with Disaster tonight
As the ether oozes with ichor
Afterimages, please grant me foresight
Before my heart is ravaged by Rancor

Author's Note

DoormanDan
Well....uh, happy late Halloween, happy late Thanksgiving, merry late Christmas and happy late New Year! Yeah, I know, I haven't been on here is around FIVE WHOLE MONTHS. I just lost all interest in writing (and overall confidence in my writing ability for no reason whatsoever), and got sidetracked by other things in my life. But, with this new year, I've decided I'm going to at least try to write quality material again. This piece isn't my best, but it's the first thing I've managed to write in five months that just felt right for a change. It's nothing special; I didn't try to write about some complex topic, I didn't utilize a ridiculously large vocab, I just chose something for inspiration and went with what I got (although, this did take several days and several rewrites). Think of this what you will; I'm just happy to feel like a writer in some form, again. I hope I'll see all you again sooner rather than later, but I'm not 100% sure that the writer's block is gone yet. We'll have to see! As always, tell me what you think, and be honest! Until next time, take care! :)

Wild use of words and thoughts. I di like them. The words took me in and held me to the last words. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
truthfully my friend I like this one more than the re-write one, because to me it carries a certain gentleness through, though the subject is still intense and the feelings are bitter, the only suggestion I can make to this is for You to highlight Your "Afterimages" in Your poem like You did in Your next one.

because my English is my second language I had some difficulty to completely understand everything You meant, and reading Your note helped me to understand more Your poem, the writer's block and the complexity it might holds inside, feelings and thoughts need to be freed...

all the best for You in Your "coming" back road :)
