Moving on

Moving on

A Poem by Aldora Sparrow
"

Not real creative, just something I wrote. Hope you like it. Suggestions will make my day (smile)

"

When I was there in your arms,

Nothing could make me leave

I won't move on

My feelings of love are strong

Chaining me to you with black shackles

I can't move on

But when you left like the wind

I am alone, a puppet without its strings

I could move on

I still yearn, wanting and waiting

Wishing for those days to come back

I should move on

Still crying, I begin to move to other things

Trying to forget and run away from the truth

I would move on

The darkening pain has ceased to

An occasional pang when I think of you

I can move on

Seeing the way I've been, I can't help but smile

How foolish, how blind I had been

I will move on

I shift my eyes to the rolling gray mist

Of tomorrow, ever-moving and ever-changing

I am moving on

Days, months pass, I start to forget

What I had so desperately wanted

I moved on

Even though the memories were painful

There is a place in my heart for you

I will remember

I really like the progression from "won't" to "can't" to "will remember". You've captured the essence of grieving and recovering from a lost love.

Currently in the "Should" to "Would" stage, knowing the "Will" stage is out there. Thank you for reminding me of the Road Map.

This is lovely. It really resonated with me, "

The darkening pain has ceased to

An occasional pang when I think of you

I can move on"
By far, my favorite part.

No matter the pain, eventually we all move on. The memories however may fade, but never go away

This is very touching and very relateable. This is very good!
I really like all the last sentences on all the stanzas.

I've looked at a lot of poems about moving on and this was the only one that i think really captured the steps and emotions that people go through. I really enjoyed it.

I really love this poem. It describes something that in one point in time, everyone has gone through. It's a really difficult thing but you mastered describing all the emotions perfectly.
