I like the way this poem oscillates between a harshly realistic barroom scene, & then wafting off gently to a philosophical observation about different kinds of music & how they move the spirit & soul. Everything about this is fresh & unexpected. "The simplicity of country" may be a little confusing, that you're referring to a style of music. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts on my work.
love the sentiments in this piece... I agree about country.. the universality of music.. a little jig in your heart always, keep it light and cheerful. way to go with your writing.
' The simplicity of country - Has the power -- To help an aching heart -- Create a healing song. ' Am pleased to say my taste in music spreads every sheet in the universe.. Gregorian chant included and more than others. But there is something very special about foot.tapping, sole placing country music. It can happily whine its sad stories, mournfully slow.. OR, it can set the heart and racing with treble and more excitement so that lame or not, the heart rises and dances along.
Yes, sadness snatches us into the darkest tuneless places. But, as as a friend once taught.. in country there's a song or set for any mood the good Lord can conjur via man's creativeness. Great write, Dale, thank you for sharing.

Thank you Emma for taking the time to not only review but express such profound thoughts.
Music is healing. So many ways to find expression and to give form to emotions we have never been able to express fully.
I love music as well. The genre is irrelevant I think.
A very intense rhythm in this poem Dale.

I am a Country music fan and a bigger fan of yours my friend. There is something about dancing to a country song that uplifts the aching heart. Excellent writing as always, Dale.

Well thank you sweetie... now you brought a smile to my face.
never had been a big country fan in general, but like some of it specifically..and there is no denying that the simplicity does help the aching heart...hip hop has movement, often anger...but seems in a way removed from the real heart of it...but that is just one person's opinion...i like the gentle strum of this peaceful write.
It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool
