Spaced Out

Rocket fuel is so expensive

And leaves a hole in the Earth’s defenses,

But money and living a long time

Is just a deadly thought to a heart

That has never experienced

The dark side close up.

 

The Earth’s gravity

Can only hold me down for so long

Before an angel complex

Lifts me so high into heaven

That I experience a hell

That is sure to take my breath away.

 

So when the oxygen becomes too thin

I must orbit the moon

Just as it has done to my world.

This quirky write is very fun & original & heartfelt at the same time. I love your "space" motif, as well as your intriguing title, moving right into the amazing word crafting of the first two lines = very imaginative! This leaves much SPACE for interpretation . . . I love the way you've twisted this theme into unusual shapes & altitudes.

Some great lines in this cowboy. It makes me wonder if I am am fortunate or unfortunate that I will never get to experience the 'star trek' years. This makes me think of a defender of the world (Angel complex) who has lost sight of what he is defending and just fighting for the sake of the fight and gets caught in that orbit or endless routine of fighting for the weak but not really doing much to actually help. I don't know, no doubt I'm way off but I really do wish I could be around for the Star Trek years!

Trying to take back your world once someone has turned it upside down can be a difficult proposition. last stanza (too thin) as opposed to to thin.
