Cemetery Thoughts(Buried Alive)

Cemetery Thoughts(Buried Alive)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

The ground was never too hard

To dig a grave

That can bury the past,

But this tombstone

Will be a reminder

That assuming will always

Lie to my soul.

A six-foot hole

Will never be big enough

To hold the promises

Of an eternal life

That the reaper said existed

At the tip of his sickle.

Then the undertaker

Distracted me with fairytales

Of life from the other side of the world

As Grim struck the final blow.

Now a casket becomes

My home sweet home,

And I a stranger

In a strange cemetery.

The metaphor for living under the weight of life's diverse expectations and disappointments, of being buffeted by the waves and being helpless to fate feels stark in this piece.

Thank you very much.
Whenever I visit a cemetry it feels so strange like its a place not meant for me. But its the universal fate awaiting all and you have captured that human emotion of denial and resignation so well. ❤

Awesome dark write! I like how you played on all the sterotypes of death and called them out for liars! ;)
