If I Get My Demons Drunk

If I Get My Demons Drunk

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Repeating sins of the past is like

One more drink at last call

After crawling out of the bathroom stall

And no one to drive you home.

But there can be an unexplainable comfort

In relieving the mistakes of the past

With vision that is blurry enough

To give the truth a second look.

So I will raise a glass

And make a toast to

Those moments of weakness

That has the strength of 100 proof,

For if I can get my demons drunk

My soul will forever remain

A hangover the underworld

Would soon forget.

This is nicely convoluted, complete with good details that almost make our vision blur as we're reading! *smile* You remind me of many aspects of drunkenness that I'd long forgotten! I wish I had the luxury of getting my demons drunk, too, but I've just never been much of a drinker! *wink! wink!* It will be harvest time soon, tho! (((HUGS)))

Thank you very much.
If they're anything like my demons they will drink you under the table and keep laughing. But I like the rebellious attitude and the status quo be dammed theme here. Always a pleasure to read you my friend.

Thank you, then I say cheers and bottoms up :)
Good idea, getting those demons drunk! They will forget what they are supposed to do, and your sins will just be washed away down the drain. I liked this poem -- very clever.

Wow. Speaks volumes in only 16 lines. My favorite part: "With vision that is blurry enough / To give the truth a second look." Great piece.
