Window Dressing

Window Dressing

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Through a cracked window

Views of life

Tend to look most realistic.

The dirty window

Paints a picture

Of life’s true intentions.

Even though a tinted window

Will flash you back

To innocent views

Long lost in the sands of time,

It will never take away the reality

It is held in place by the pain.

Very thought provoking. 'The things we see aren't always how they really are' is what I came away with after reading this. Nice job!

Thank you... I like what you took from my words.
It's interesting to think that life appears more realistic through cracked windows. Life lived by fragment does indeed make a full view. I interpreted this to mean that life isn't perfect. Sometimes there'll be cracks though they symbolize endurance, perseverance and strength. Not imperfection. Life’s true intentions. I guess this depends on one’s independent beliefs. I interpreted this to mean that though it appears dirty, it’s just stained. Stained glass isn’t flawed, just a different kind of beautiful. Life preserved on ice, in pain, is just one of many facets of reality. Without pain, then how can we experience relief? I like this piece. Very existential. Great read.

Thank you for the deeply insightful review... so very appreciated.
I liked your thoughts and words shared. I liked the logic. How we look at life. Broken view or hopeful view. Our decision. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you my queen
Dare I say it? Yes I dare, this is a poem that reflects the many varied pathways we take through life; and what those choices bring us.

I liken this to looking out of a window on a long train journey; watching each flicker frame image as it passes us by; the reality, never very far away.

Beccy.

Thank you very much. Appreciate the feedback.
and the reality steps in with the absence of the rose tinted windows but rather a cracked and dark window because it is what is life all about

Your words are very wise. Thanks for sharing.
and when those rose colored glasses get cracks in them...we become even more naive. Don't we?

Very good point sir. Thank you.
Very intriguing. This might be the most nuanced poem I’ve read from you, ever! I’m not sure I can grasp all that you’re saying here, but your ideas are thought-provoking. I love the title & the various choices for window views. I’m just not sure I agree with the last two lines, which feel rather final & futile & sad. I would hope that the way we view the world is not forever clouded by the pain we’ve been thru. To me, that’s the miracle of His Mercy, that these dirty or tainted viewpoints can be made whole & clean & honest (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
