Charged With First Degree Metaphor

Charged With First Degree Metaphor

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Criminally concussed

Is the motive

When first degree murder

Is served up with

All the bread and butter

You can eat.

Having artichoke hearts

On the jury

Softens the blow

When the verdict is spoiled.

Laws of the land

Are hard to swallow

When cooked too long

Which is why trials

Are all to often burnt

Causing smoke to choke

And cloud the judge’s eyes…

That is how lady liberty starves to death.

'Charged With First Degree Metaphor'
Rcocknrollcowboy,
Hmm. This was a joy to read. How about we serve on a jury and have snacks of different kinds while doing so? Somehow that's not probable. This fun spoof on the the difficulties and the heaviness of judgement was what I found myself thinking about within people's relationships. Judging with an attitude of criticism can be far to easy to do. Not only does the law of land exist but individually we can be the judge and the jury towards one another. Great poem to analyze.
Blessings,
Kathy

Thank you very much. So glad that you liked it.
i like this poem when i think of artichoke i will think of the jurors having a heart like one or nothing at all... anyway this is one informative poem and it shows one side of justice and liberty wherein i am most interested in thanks for this piece

Thank you for the great review and observation.
i kind of get it in a sense of "there are laws of the land" but some are so outdated and don't really protect and serve....they actually hinder and take away rights...and force good people to be thrown out of the country or thrown in jail.

You are stretching metaphors & imaginations to the limit here, I believe! I could not put together all the pieces of your humpty-dumpty, but I very much enjoyed the effort nevertheless! Becuz of your "lady liberty" ending, I thought this might be related to something political, but I didn't get it. All in all I found a fun & playful word crafting to challenge the best "punners" among us! *smile* Fondly, Margie
