Stone Cold Dream

Stone Cold Dream

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Awakening with a smile on my face

And an aching in my bones,

For after a hypothetical adventure

I find myself at home

Under a cotton current,

Drowning in the depths of confusion.

Trying to figure out

Why things I’ve never seen

Become a warped memory,

As I swim to the shallow end of reality

Thoughts flood my skull

With images encased in a frozen waterfall.

I seem to slide in place

With no expression on my face,

While on my knees

I pray to swim with the fishes

But find no weak spot

Upon this frozen pond.

That was when I awakened

With the smile on my face

And the aching in my bones,

It was then that I realized

The hypothetical adventure

Was just my subconscious facing my fears.

These lines especially speak to me of how the dream state carries us forward

Under a cotton current,
Drowning in the depths of confusion.
As I swim to the shallow end of reality
Thoughts flood my skull
With images encased in a frozen waterfall.
Upon this frozen pond.
With the smile on my face
And the aching in my bones,
It was then that I realized
The hypothetical adventure
Was just my subconscious facing my fears.

yvw 😎
dear Dale.... how does our mind keep us bewildered when we simply want to sleep.
We have to get up and try to forget the complexity of our dreams... like a wild
artist painting scenes that do not resemble any one or places we have ever been.
Perhaps a past life has been embedded in our psyche... and slips through the lightening
in the sky and into the portal of our dreams. Someday we will discover the other side
with our eyes and mind ready to comprehend.
Until then we have our poetry to share. truly, Pat

Thank you Pat... you are so very right.
If only we could erase the fears in our subconscious, maybe we could be more relaxed in our reality.
What we don't know won't hurt us? Or maybe...it can...so we do need to stay awake.
i always enjoy your philosophical ventures, Dale.

Some great wisdom there Jacob. Thanks for sharing.
Ah Dale that subconscious mind can and does play many tricks on us. You have some great imagery in your lines and your poetic expression is sound. Nicely conveyed. All the best.
