Footsteps without footprints

Is what they call time without a memory.

So keeping life alive must be devised

On the other side by the divine trifecta.

For death is just a statistic

Collected by the mortal sin.

Reading your poem resonates with thoughts I've had lately with some significant deaths happening all around me, it seems. I tend to have a more cold calculated view of death, especially when at the end of a well-lived life, rather than a life tragically cut short. I'll be 63 on the 4th & somehow I've arrived at an age where my contemporaries are dying off of "natural causes" at a pretty good clip! I'm not worried about my own mortality, it's just that I feel so much younger than that! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

Keeping life alive. I felt your lines were speaking about the tragedy of suicide, and what a tragedy that is. Leaving a trail of utter devastation in its wake. Good to read you Dale.

love the last two lines...the personification of the mortal sin...
i feel suicide here...and the idea of trying to find a solution, a reason to live...
to not take one's own life and rub out the footprints left from the life...that was lived.
