Between Heaven and Hell

Between Heaven and Hell

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Innocent red flows like wine

Being savored by silver tongue angels

Summoning the twilight of the Gods

That brings no amazing grace.

Bitter cold winds from the north

Bare false witness to a ring of fire

Keep your brimstone faith warm

To those finding comfort down south.

The walls of Jericho provide isolation

To the shadow of death in turmoil

Over eternal rights of victims denied

Fearing he will reap what he sows.

Now comes the time for sacrificial rites

As the temptation becomes the master key

To bringing salvation to the offspring

You used to give the devil his due.

I had to read this a few times to discover that there is more light than darkness flowing in the face of red innocence. It is a tale that takes place within the struggle that abounds in this life, to finish with the fruit of our choices.
Terrific work Dale...

You set the stage with the opening line of - Inocent red. You take charge of the direction of this piece and lead the reader till the very end. Nice job. Cherrie

Love this dark and light twisted tale. I love these first few
lines: Innocent red flows like wine
Being savored by silver tongue angels
Summoning the twilight of the Gods
That brings no amazing grace.

Brings the whole poem together.

Good work!

Amazing- as usual. The title sucked me in and I was not disappointed! I love the first stanza especially- "silver tongued angels"- you are creative to the bone. Great job.

Like this. There's a lot of Darkness to it and there is Light. It's very beautifully written and it seems to have a positive end with the line, 'You used to give the devil his due'. Overall I just think this is a cool poem.

Thankfully the 'bitter cold winds from the north' have subsided a bit here! lol
A powerful write with a message of faith even in the midst of hell on earth.
Unfortunately many 'give the devil his due'.

Peace n Light!

Even given the dark tone of this poem, your faith shines, like a beacon in the darkness in the wilderness. Thank you for sharing this dark religious poem with us.

This was an amazing write. I actually read it a few times and it was better each time. Very dark and and well written. My mind did a cartwheel at the line,

The walls of Jericho provide isolation
To the shadow of death in turmoil
Over eternal rights of victims denied
Fearing he will reap what he sows.

Incredibly. Great work.

Beautifully Gothic! Everyone interpets differently. I hear a lot of deep vibration in this lyrical, poetic statement of avengement. An averment to a belief, not faith. As always, I would expect nothing less than brilliant from your poet's pen. To live it is to write in knowledge. Congratulations!
