Surreal Fairytale

Surreal Fairytale

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Misty eyes notice a dwarf

Dancing under a purple sunrise

Like he was a princess.

The princess dressed in white

Walks down the middle of the street

Like walking down the aisle

To an everafter wedding.

Her gallant knight sells her

At the last minute for magic beans

To feed his horse in hopes

Of making him a unicorn

When all the noble steed wants

Is to be the mouse

With so many friends.

Yet the mouse sits and cries

While watching the dwarf dance

Wishing to be his partner.

Dale.....I am most certain this is not just a "fairy tale", but a tale of settling for seconds...compromises..., change of roles, unmet expectations somewhere along the way! The poor mouse in the end has to sit and watch, though he wanted to be so much more! Your way of telling this fable/moral is unique, and flowing from the magic kingdom with creativity! Well done!!!

Wow! I find the way this is narrated extremely unique, intelligent and earnest. I think we don't look inwards often enough. It takes a long time for us to understand that we need to focus on self-actualization rather than wanting to turn into someone we're not. In a sense, this is, therefore, a very poetic description of an identity-crisis-chaos. Superbly written! It's a piece that might appear to be simple but exposes extremely complex issues relating to one's identity and how one attempts to define or re-define it.

Thank you... triple threat.
We always aspire for something other than what we have, never waiting to appreciate the beauty of what we could have. This sad but a reality and so touching!
Fairy tales are not 'happily ever after'.

Everyone always wants to be someone or something else and rarely do they realize that there are those who wish to be them. We all should be thankful for what we have and who we are because you never know what it is like to walk in another shoes and hold there secrets in life. Inspiring write my friend.

There's a serious circling and interconnecting going on in this fairytale like poem. Everyone wanting something and not really getting it. A very clever & fun poem!

The mystery of life. Few people appreciate their life and situations. I like the twist of this poem. A outstanding poem. Thank you.

This is definitely one twisted fairytale but it is a reminder that things aren't always what they seem. There may be hidden feelings and wants deep down inside of people and that life is always changing and that no fairytale is perfect. Great write my friend.

Random connection... So I wore a smile the entire time I read this. It ties in beautifully with my points of meditation for the day. Here's my facebook status:
"Greed is a gluttonous beast: She's never grateful for what she has and her quest for more, more, more is never satisfying." Wonder if there really is such a thing as contentment or fulfilling expectations or unwavering compromise. Hmmmmm, more meditation...
