Keeper Of The Ravens

Keeper Of The Ravens

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

She soulfully walks… alone,

Where even the shadows are afraid to dwell.

Slipping through the leafless trees

Her eloquent beauty whispering… inspiration

To those who see the true heart in the dry bark.

Keeper of the ravens… needing no cage,

Her dark charms are the key to letting them fly…

Free to those in need of the gift of afterlife

So they can rebirth into new skin…

Skin that will bring peace without changing

Their reflection; allowing them to see

Why the light she hides from needs them.

Never seen by those with pale stares;

Feared by those with sun baked skin…

She is the freedom of humanity.

What a fantastic picture!

This is so myth-like it almost drips with age! Love the way you've created this wonderful creature who lives to bring light, who turns death into life by merely being 'there' in the pitch black of whatever-is.

'Skin that will bring peace without changing Their reflection; allowing them to see Why the light she hides from needs them.' - great imagination and sensitivity.

An incredible post, Dale... in my mind, one of your best, if not the best.

You know, I've read alot of your poems and have kind of gotten to know your usual tone, which is very nice, but this is really different. I don't think I'd have ever picked it out as yours. She almost seems like a reaper of sorts, helping people adjust to the dark (death). Its not so much sinsiter as other wordly. Bravo this one! Its special.

I have to say that as of this moment, this is one of my favorite poems by you. I completely agree with Lizanne Green...it is magnificent. Death leads to life, darkness leads to light. It is refreshing to read and the picture adds a certain je ne sais quoi.

Great job!

Nice job with this one Dale,
I could see the keeper of the ravens slipping through the leafless trees as the cold wind blew...
now I am ready for Halloween

Darkly beautiful. Usually Ravens give me shudders but this treatment of them was wonderful. Eloquent.

wow, your creativity and writing are one of a kind. Your taste in beauty shows in every word, even in dark writing you manage to bring chills because of its beauty... not to mention the picture you chose to put with it. I read this the other day and all I could think to write was the word wow. It deserves so much more than that so I'm back to tell you... THIS IS STUNNING!!!!!

There is no light without darkness. That is what this beautiful snapshot of words brings to me. She is the darkness so that the light can and will be forever...

Nicely done. Halloween is such a difficult "season" for me. However, every now and again I find a piece that is worth a timely read. This is one.
