Without(Pieces Of Me)

Without(Pieces Of Me)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Beneath the relentless sky

In a world built on subliminal treason

Are these aching bones

Virgin to daylight,

In search of sanctity;

Clutched in the vulture’s talons.

Removal of my flesh

Was vital in letting emotions flow.

Next the lungs had to be buried

Beneath the treaded dirt,

For without captive air

I could feel the true meaning

Of breathing.

Ripping out the heart

To leave it bleeding all over the ground

Allowed me to hear

The true meaning of love

Without the distorting beat

Distorting the truth.

Disposing of my stomach

Helped feed this barren wasteland

So I can see my hunger

Is not in vain.

Letting my mind shatter

And watching the pieces

Fall between the cracked terrain

Put in perspective

The education

That hinders my spirit’s freedom.

Now that I face

The harsh elements

And natural predators

In the rawest form possible

I feel confident

I am really living.

Isn't that true, when the chips are down and we are facing the harshest elements of life that's when we are truly living. Those are probably the moments that will stand out the most to us when we gaze back over our fleeting lives. The fun and gay times are nice...but the rough ones where survival wasn't as easy, those are the bookmarking moments for most.

I really liked this piece- it was visually and mentally interesting, and left me with a sense of awe, and perhaps a little feeling that living in the barest conditions is best. It really is the tough situations and the hard times that make life what it is: enjoyable, appreciated, worth living. If life were full of bliss, there would be no contrast, an absolute lack of appreciation for everything that we have.

Excellent write.

i feel like these are emotions that someone felt undergoing a personal hell (so to speak) and tryin to overcome they become pieces shattering to the ground exposing their soul to be picked away... i love this because it so realistic and i can relate .. i love that about your writing:)

If one is to never feel joy or even pains in life, than one can never say they are living. Again, a Remarkable piece of fine poetry, Dale.

You never fail to touch me when I read your thoughtful prose, and once more, you do not fail! I think it is when life gets the hardest that we can realize that there is so much to be thankful for. It was not until I had the threat of loosing life, that I really began to LIVE! Keep up the wonderful writes as you continue to inspire! ~ Jude :-)

In the end we have our basic skills and hunger to survive to keep us going forward. I like the total poem. Ending was my favorite lines. A outstanding poem.
