Hollowed Be Thy Life

Hollowed Be Thy Life

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

The moss-covered tombstone exclaimed

with a foggy accent,

“Here lies a man full of regret but feeling no pain”

as the shadow finds peace

resting on his sacred ground.

For the flesh is still pounding the pavement

while the heart still tries to move the earth.

When the soul becomes an instigator

for the damned

the spirit reluctantly becomes

a willing accomplice.

Surreal is the afterlife

when life is still all to real.

Every breath without exhale,

       every heartbeat without flow,

              every moment like sand

       giving the hourglass purpose.

These are the sacrifices made

when death accompanies re-birth.

This is very powerful. It sounds like a poem about the tortured dead, someone who died with regrets and is too restless to stay in the earth, perhaps that is the re-birth part, he is born again to grow up and finish the business he left undone in his last life. That's what your poem spoke to me and I must say, I really do like this write of yours.

Vampires. Heart beating without flow. You could also apply this to life and that sometimes we have so many wants that we cease to live and enjoy life.

So I haven't been on my poetry flow in a while correct me if I'm wrong! seriously!
In a nut shell, a person lives a life full of suffereing and pain. After his death he no finds peace in his spiritual being. His soul is still intact within his spirtual being and still longs to help to love. So stupid soul drags the spirit to help people cross over in the after life or as in this poem help in the re-birth. Maybe kinda like an astral projection concept even....

In any case this is a chilling write. I enjoy the tone of it more than anything else.

"Surreal is the afterlife" .......... The images your words provoke are ghostly, real.... reminder of what's to come like it or not... wow... this is a great write!

Near surreal, a beating heart that's dead, aching to do more .. weird sort of creepy reality to think about.

The foggy accent spoke to me .. as if past drifting words ..

Words to mull over ..

'Surreal is the afterlife
when life is still all to real.
Every breath without exhale,
every heartbeat without flow,
every moment like sand
giving the hourglass purpose.
These are the sacrifices made
when death accompanies re-birth.'

Re-birth, able to know the price of debts to be paid, realisation can sink in further!
A wonderful poem love :)

"Surreal is the afterlife
when life is still all to real."............So true! How death can have a negative effect, the afterlife being something a lot fear for lack of understanding, this life just as bad at times lol

Awesome poem love
