The Dove

The Dove

A Poem by Katherine S.

This poem was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's, "Alone".

               She was but a dove
Her beauty was hidden inside a trove
             But this dove was overshadowed
All the other birds seemed to be hallowed
5           Her colors were oh, so dull
Her thoughts and feelings considered null
The other birds had vivid rainbows for wings
If only they could hear how this dove's soul sings
This poor dove's soul has begun to wither away
10         But not a day goes by where she does not pray
She will pray for a chance to feel love
Silly little one, no one could fall for a dove.

it portrayed well the idea of the shy unnoticed genius in the back of the room. I like that you articulated the idea of faith, and faith in yourself.
very nice rhymes!
