When the Darkness Takes Over

When the Darkness Takes Over

A Poem by Anthony Q Armstrong
"

Dark and depressing. I wrote this when I tried to kill myself.

"

Life is barely livable,

But death is quite pleasurable.

Maybe this is why I’ve given up,

But surely it will get better.

I live another day for two reasons,

And two reasons alone.

One is for a person, for whom I breathe,

The other a promise I’ve made.

I don’t want this, and neither do you.

I’ll the road, unpaved and broken,

You take the one that is straight and smooth.

Maybe we’ll see each other again,

But with my luck; we won’t.

If God is real, He’d better save me,

Because the only thing I see is the ground.

It’s broken and Fiery,

Said to be the edges of sanity.

If life has taught me one thing,

It’s that death is a caressing blanket,

Put there for you to hold.

The power to end it all,

Lies’ within us.

But having the willpower to live,

Not all of us can make that call.

Death is only a razor blade away.

How can life just slip away?

Depending on one person to save you,

Only delays the inevitable.

Being a savior doesn’t change a thing.

Making things happen is what you need.

Lord Death is the true savior,

Because he saves those lost souls from life.

It’s your call.

If not,

Just sit back, and watch us fall.

The poems really good. OMG I'm crying from peoples reviews! And they're right, just think of your friends, family and the someone you breath for. That always helps!

It's so dark and depressing but that's what drew me in. I don't particually like the idea of death, especially since I know death is soon to come to one of my family members. I know what it feels like because I thought about death a lot when I got depressed about a year ago. But trust me, it is NOT worth the razor. Somewhere somebody loves you; and if you can't find them at the moment, I will always give out free hugs. :)

Hmm..why would somebody with such a gift want death? What has been done to you that you feel death is the only escape? I was where you were once but I broke out. It was hard but I had many people to help me. One person I ignored was God. He can only help if you are willing to let him. He is our savior. Venting to God is one of the few things keeping people sane. You can't live life only off of 2 reasons. You need more. You just have to find it. There is a path you are supposed to follow and no matter what gets in your way don't stray from it. If you truly want happiness rid yourself of weakness and don't fall into the grasp of depression. To find the good things in life we must conquer the bad...don't you see? Life isn't meant to be easy but if you work for it good times will find you.

If you ever need to talk just message me. And don't just brush away help like I did. Trust it will be a mistake you will regret. Other people will help if you just let them.

While your poem is dark and depressing, it contains some amazing images and contrasts. Your writing is easy to read and the word combinations aren't too difficult to understand. Observe the positive in life. There's lots of good and happy things going on, plus an abundance of beautiful scenes in nature that we can enjoy.
