A Bridge vs A Wall!

A Bridge vs A Wall!

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa
"

PROTECT SACRED WATERS

"
Looking down the barrel
Of my oppressors loaded gun
Roll a cigarette...
Take one last drag
One final hit
Cross imaginary line
His land or mine?
Servants of the people
Cloaked in heavy gear
Military armor, masked
Tear gas sprayed faces
Of women, children, elders
Vicious dogs trained to bite
All in the name, all in the game
Of politics and corporate might
Helicopters surrounding skies
Floodlights beams, blinding night
As our native nations gathered
In songs and dance, prayers up
Sacred is the land we walk upon.
Sacred is the air that we breathe.
Sacred is the water for water is life
Tear down walls, no fear of defeat
Cross, "Rainbow Bridge of hope"

Wonderful! This is a profound and well thought out piece. Passionate in the telling, truthful in its compelling conclusion. Well done! Good luck...
