your honor I pray thee

your honor I pray thee

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

"Your honor, I pray thee!"

A Poem by debileah
"
my final statement
"

Searching for words to make a statement.

A statement to the judge for the sentencing.

A drunk driver killed my son.

Not a gun.

Nor a knife.

That took his life.

Where are words I seek to find?

Thoughts racing through my mind.

For I believe there are no such words,

to express my sorrow, my loss, my heartache.

There are no words that can describe,

what this incident has done to my life.

There are no words that can fill the emptiness,

that stirs my heart.

There are no words that can touch,

the darkness of my soul.

It is a lonely place to dwell.

If there is a heaven,

then this must be,

my hell!

Oh your honor! I pray thee...

be swift in your judgement, and let justice prevail!

But leave me not, in my travail!

Please understand sir; I mean no disrespect!

The law doth lie in the palm of your hands!

This drunk driver must make amends!

"For the world has lost a wonderful young man,

who had the potential, the ability, the mind and the heart

of a scholar, a teacher, a professor, a philosopher and an author.

I lost my son!"

Poetry has clearly served as an outlet for you in expressing your deepest emotions. What is more, you continue to help people who deal with similar circumstances through writing in general. I appreciate that.

You extend far beyond focusing on yourself and your grief here. You give other who struggle with loss a chance to heal too. I respect that so much...
