Death March

Death March

A Poem by maddie

My ribs puncture my skin with every step I take

My stomach is screaming from pain

My tongue is as solid and dry as a rock

Oh how I wish it would rain

For many months we have marched

Without any food or water

Sweat dripping out of every pour

Each day growing hotter and hotter

We are the lucky ones though

Many have lost their lives along the way

Because of the Nazis’ everlasting hate

They were the ones that had to pay

I just want this all to be over

I wish for this journey to end

For I have walked for far too long

And my shoes are beginning to lose their mend

.... Good use of history, but not liking the topic... Brings a lot of differnt pictures in my mind, and not any good ones. Good writing, though.

Beautiful. I love the historic reference to the Nazis and the cruel treatment that the author is trying to get across shows that they are probably Jewish.
I love it!
