After Life

After Life

A Poem by S. P. Vaporis

If I were to say my world
Would end this very day

Would your love remain sincere,
Remembering a past, not so clear

As melting time stills the start
For this, my hesitant ashtray heart

Nothing left but remembered regrets
Eyes closing weakly as death besets

Memories of life’s unpaid toll
Blacken already darkened soul

Suddenly, light falls upon me
Radiance of purity, no others see

Shining so brightly it burns
Fear of this new reality returns

Falling onto beggar’s knees
Wishing to end this nightmare dream

Evoked through the mind’s acidity
A place in hell is my eternity

Wow! Amazingly powerful. I especially liked the last two stanzas, they are brilliant. Great writing!

"For this, my hesitant ashtray heart" powerful line...tells of being used up and burned. This one is a fave of mine adding to my "list"!

Um. Well... I liked it. A lot. I turned of my music and read it through again in silence. The first four lines grabbed me, and drew me in...
(I think i suck at reviews... sorry)
