Civilisation

A Poem by denise
"

have we progressed?

"

The human race,

Sky scrapers, glossy, sleek, cold, distant

Stand apart,

How far we have come,

Civilized, refined, restrained,

Yet mother nature conquers all,

Buildings topple in her grip,

Burn in her fury,

Bow to her strength,

Anger, revenge, passion all simmer,

All contained for now,

Repressed,

Yet to be unleashed,

Rules, logic, conventions,

The laws that bind

The predator inside,

..........Waiting

Sometimes we can stand and be impressed by the sights our technology have made possible, other times we see only the ruin of land with concrete and glass, yet nature always wins the battle and will return to what was over time, removing our scars from her landscape.
Love the strength of what is said in this piece, in so few words.
