Glowing Friend

Glowing Friend

A Poem by S.F

An ancient time ago
Of what seemed
Like many light years
Of our lives

I reached out
To touch a star
Even when I saw
It dancing so far

I knew my hands
Would never touch its
But faith always lingered
Interweaving our space

Many days I have prayed
One day to be with you
My faraway glowing friend

~

We grew old
Young faces
Veiling our
Worn souls

And that's when
I have learned
That even stars
Can burn dark

That even smiles
Can be forged of scars
And that light
Can not prevail
Without evil paths

Life is naught
But our story
I had black ink
And you had light

But that didn't
Stop your hands
From delving
Hard, thorn words
With long sharp quill

Oh, how timeless is time
And how much I've learnt from you
My faraway glowing friend.

I think it's good to write poems like this to show the other side and not just rainbows and butterflies- you know? very honest work. I think part of this really shows the truth of deception and whats behind fake smiles. I loved the story of this and the ending was so brilliant! I am in love with this

Such a balance, life isn't all glowing echoes of happiness and glittered moments, takes the dark to arrive at light, sometimes, beautiful! x

Thanks Ayushi! I'm glad you like it :)
its a beautifully one Salma..stars are our friends when we open in the night..they show us all shapes, all sides, we play with them..we talk to them in our ways..make our own images on the sky cover..loved your friendship with the star..what i really liked was the fact that like us they all get old..and no matter how much we try we can never be there to share their pain...thanks for the share:)

Thanks Emily!
What a lovely wise piece! I always appreciate the point in time when any of us realize that everything might not be all starlight and moonbeams, but that life has its dark side too... The point in time where we 'We grew old/Young faces/Veiling our/Worn souls' and knew in a wise way that, ' ...light/Can not prevail/Without evil paths.' Perceptive write... great job!

Thank you so much for your kind words!
Pensative moment this one. I was crusing along until I got to "But our story, I had blank ink",I read it quite a few times and I forces you to stop it seems like a moment of rupture if intentional then It works if not then... . But the longing is very well expressed straight out oof the first lines. A distant memory of refulgent prescence. And surely that thought which condemns the star to shine only ourwardly when actually its most terrifying power comes from the moment of implosion which creates an uncomprehensible void capable of time and dimension travels goes underapreciated. But wisdom seems to take over at the end ambracing and reassuring.

It is a very thoughtfull write and I thankyou for the possibility of reading it
