Would You Let Me?

Would You Let Me?

A Poem by Emily

Say I wanted to nestle in your arms
And sleep through the ever
Just to be close to your warmth
To sail through contented dreams together

What if I wished to confess
The darkest recesses of my mind
Would you grab a flashlight and go spelunking?

Should I decide to recite every word I've thought of you
Breathing a sigh because I thought it could never be
And write you a letter of the poems I wrote
The songs I've heard...It could never be enough
I could scrawl you across the stars! and it wouldn't be quite right

But these things...these daft ideas...
These soft-hearted daydreams...
They fill me with cotton-candy goodness
And a sprinkle of hope

Imagine I wanted to murmur in French
J'adore, Je veux toi
Je veux toi et moi
Could you reply with "Oui,Oui,"
In the way only you can?

Will you be my muse,
Let me draw a thousand studies
To try to capture your essence
Would you let me?

You whisper to me,
"Yes,"
A sweet melody in my ear,
And I can be free.
