I Freakin' Friend-Love You

I Freakin' Friend-Love You

A Poem by Emily

There's a confession in my heart
Bubbling in its core
Soon, I'm sure, it will burst
Flowing lava over the mountains of my heart
Not scorching the earth, but protecting and strengthening it
Glowing magma enveloping its familiar warmth

I care for you, truly.
Once was I scared that my love couldn't be found,
Only hidden.
But secrets are beacons to friends.

You used words locked in my mind for so long,
I thought they belonged to me.
My solitary truth wasn't solitary at all-
A revelation i am ecstatic to have

My world has changed now, and I am awed with new life
This world, this whole world is better
With you around.

No one can know.
Not our friends,
Not our partners, future or otherwise,
Not even our parents.
This is our little secret.
And, I think, secret truths shared with friends
Are the sweetest truths of all.
