well
as close to that
as we can fathom

and that flag
you planted
is
probably still there

wants to go back
to that place
it must
be time

Author's Note

The Analog Kid
I love the NASA of the past and I am proud of our accomplishments in space. Obviously, it's a recurring theme for me. I bet God let Neil stop and play on the moon for a brief visit before his soul departed our realm.

Your poem is "out of this world!" It touched my heart in so many ways(as did your author's note). I remember the day of the first moon landing so well- I couldn't watch it because I was in France, but my mother told me that my dad cried. He had been a factory worker who had worked on making some of the cables for the project. The old NASA meant so much to our family. When my dad passed, my mom had "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" engraved on his headstone. Thank you for sharing your poem. Also, I think it is beautifully written as well!

as far as explorers go, i think Neil Armstrong has Christopher Columbus beat doesnt he...

Imprints, probably still there

that line hit the most

can you imagine.. that is so everlasting..

and we have another Armstrong in the news too.. Lance.. also someone we used to look up to as far as reaching new heights.. .. one a man who fell from grace, and the real hero, who fell, to grace..

what an amazing accomplishment

you did good here friend.. i never really thought about Mr. Armstrong over the years that much but there actually is a real sad feeling about his passing.. maybe because it comes from a time when life was more simple, and it actually made sense... now in so many ways, it is just horrible.. this man had, the right stuff.. with him goes an icon of hope that is no longer..

one giant leap, for mankind..

wowww, what a legacy

:)

You are welcome...
Great tribute Pat. I feel the same way you do. Armstrong was someone to look up to without having to deal with controversy or shame. All the astronauts of that time were. It's a shame it all had to end.
