The Body Electric

The Body Electric

A Poem by The Analog Kid
"

A poem inspired by NWO, conspiracy theories, what's going on today, 1984, Ayn Rand and a cheesy Rush video. Be sure to click on the video for a few laughs!

"

The year is 2020 in America

technology has finally

been subverted completely

the RFT microchips are installed

just below the surface

of my skin

big brother chases me down

tracking my every move

I struggle to resist,

but the control freaks persist

some might say

it’s the number

of the beast

I don’t know

but I am losing control

subjugation is the word

I switch on my original program

written in the now

obsolete binary code

I transmit for anyone to hear “1001001”

let’s see them crack that code

and if they do, they know where I stand

Author's Note

The Analog Kid
"1001001" is "I" in binary code.

Truth follows fiction. Lets hope Atlas isn't getting tired just yet.

I like this writing. I feel it's so close to the truth.

That's it completely. Ayn Rand rules!
Of course, I think of the old twilight zone story of the robot grandmother from a company called, "The Body Electric." Those children came to love her, even though she was a machine. We humans have loved our machines, ever since the invention of the wheel. When have we gone too far? Have we, already, gone to far? Our machines tend to make us weak, in some ways. Not many could survive, alone, in nature. How unnatural is that? The more technology grows, our freedom seems to dwindle. I know that I intend to find the densest part of nature on earth, when someone wants to place a tracking device in me. Screw that! Great write, however!!

Very prescient message - shout it loud!
Also reminds me of a joke - there are only 10 people who understand binary code ...

101 per cent hear you hon and feel this! WOW! Yup! Indeed....we shall see what happens ey? In the long run....I always say they can have our bodies but they can't have our souls...in the way..if you think on it...we have won!
This rocks!

You asked me to check this out a while back, so sorry if i've taken so long to actually read this.
I love 1984 and love the way you've payed homage to it, the dystopian themes present in this is just the kind of thing i enjoy reading, though i think we're already on the verge of living in that type of world, that or i'm a cynic.
Loved it!

I like the way the stanzas here are very spare and well-formed, kind of like the punchcards of yore and 10 print "whatever the hell we used to type into computers in the seventies" ... a great bridge of poetry into technology ... and beyond both of those phenomena, a piece that really makes you think.

A fun futurist piece... though also scary to think this may actually be true... kinda of reminds me of an updated version of the movie "Enemy Of The State"
