Child to Man

Child to Man

A Poem by The Analog Kid
"

Just remembering my grandfather 8 years after his passing.

"

I walked in there

scared out of my mind

yet

with the resolve of steel

it had been a long time

since death was at my door

announcing his presence

avoiding reality

is the way I wanted it to be

you suffered for long

and needed to be free

and in the end

the love was too strong

and I had to say goodbye

before you were gone

as I held your hand

I took the trip

once again

from child to man

Death takes hold of us so quickly sometimes. I know it was that way when I lost my father. He was terminally ill though but died instantly. The values and the love that he instilled in me my whole life are still ever present with me. Life is so precious as I am reminded with this poem. One can't ever express the sadness it is completely engulfing at times. The memories are very much a part of my life. Thanks for sharing this, you wrote it very well.

Wow. Your grandfather must've been one helluva role model. Blessed are those who mourn, for they have dared to risk their hearts by giving of their love.

So much emotion packed into this punch. It's heartbreaking yet rooted in such reality. Incredibly touching, beautiful write.

this is incredibly moving. Especially touching was the last verse when you describe the trip from child to man.

That's a great way of describing an event. I remember being with my grandfather in the hospital just before he died. He didn't say a word. After he died I remembered all the things we did. Wish he was still here but Mr. Death takes no bribe as Franklin said.
