Thoughts On Love

A Poem by dillonjensen
"

I explored a thought I had and tried to take it to its logical conclusion. I argued with myself for a while because I wasn't sure it made any sense. Maybe someone can take from this what they need.

"
Love is selfish, no?
It's like wanting someone's ego to fill the gaps in your own.
I get its allure
Love is intoxicating or at least it has the capacity for it to be.
But I still think it is selfish to ask someone to constantly be this thing for you
That is just unrealistic and a reason why I think many people fall out of love
Do you get what I mean?
I feel like you must first strip yourself completely naked in a figurative sense
You are whole without the things that you own or don't own
Including your ego
It's like a shoe that we all wear
But once taken off
I promise you you are worth it to someone somewhere.

Love can be selfish. It can be crazy and messy and it can hurt like hell. But real love sees through the cracks, it lifts you up when you’re down. Real love carries you through the fire and says don’t worry, I got you. Love is a 2 way street. You both have to help each other when one of you is down. And I promise, it’s worth it. Great work
