On the Train to Hallstatt

rain, slick and dark,

lines the neuron pathways

of detached meaning

sheeting

electrical messages

disguised as love’s harbingers

of quickened heart

pulse apace

 

within the blink of an eye

the moistening of tongue

the flutter of lash

unspoken

 

you turn

and the light falls

unfettered

love’s joy

in the moment
