Silent Music

Silent Music

A Chapter by Debbie Barry

Written in 12th grade, a love poem to my then-future first husband.

Silent Music

February 16, 1987

A flash of warm remembrance,
A spark of love renewed,
A glimmer of the future,
Light my mind when I'm with you.

The light of joy floods through me,
A wash of happy songs
Sung by the heart within me -
The sound of golden gongs.

The chiming, laughing music
Proclaims to all the world
The love that binds our futures
With the deep, unspoken Word.

For Andy.
