A Chapter by Debbie Barry

A poem of inquiry.

September 27, 1988

I need to know.
I need to understand.
I have a hunger,
And a thirst,
And a craving
For the knowledge.

I need to know who,
And what,
And why,
And where,
And how
We are.

I need to know why
The world is as it is.
I need to know why
I am who I am.
I need to know why
Anything is.

But the questions
Have no answers.
