Winter Comes

A new scrap of verse that came to me at lunch today.

Sunlight streaming

Through dusty windows

Dimly lights

The room below.

 

Naked tree limbs

Against the sky

Herald the winter,

And the coming of snow.

You mentioned students: what age group do you teach? I would be honored if you chose to share the verses with your students. Most of my recent poetry is meant for children, and it makes me happy for children to read them.

I was an English teacher, before I lost my sight, and had to give it up. Promoting a love of words gives me great joy.

Oh! What a wonderful, curious age, learning almost like sponges absorbing the knowledge! My little cousin is in kindergarten this year, and she always gets the first copy of any of my illustrated picture books, to give them a test run. She's even caught a mistake now and then, and made me reissue trhe book!

A gray shade of a poem...illumined only by dust filtered sun. It offers a certain ambiance or atmosphere that makes one long to curl up under the quilts like a lazy December morning. I enjoyed.
