Chance Meeting

Chance Meeting

A Chapter by Debbie Barry

A poem for a guy.

Chance Meeting

December 23, 1995

Why do I always fall in love
With a man in a uniform?
And why do I love a man
Who cannot love me back?

You were a friend, kind and strong,
Sweet and gentle, always there.
I was weak and needed love;
I sought solace in your arms.

You belong to another
And I as well have gone my way.
I never said goodbye to you;
I only walked away.

Thank you for the happy times
When I felt so loved.
God keep you well and safe from harm
As you guard us all.

For George P.
