Man Made of Fire

Man Made of Fire

A Poem by Deirdre

I fell in love with a man made of fire
His flames licked my arms and burned my skin
I welcomed the heat
I let it surround me
The heat rose and brought my heart with it
The man made of fire took my heart and held it
He melted the ice that encased it and let it beat again
Let me breathe again
I’ve been holding in for so long
Waiting on someone to save me
Waiting on me to save me
I opened my eyes and let his fire blind me
This man made of fire with his glorious heat
Melted me to the core
Freed my soul of its shackles

This man made of fire held me
As the last tremor of my sobs died
As my last tear shed and evaporated
I listened to his heart as time ticked by
It beat along with each second

Beat
Beat
Beat

This man made of fire held my face and told me that he loved me.
He leaned his face towards mine and kissed my lips
His fire enveloped me and we disappeared forever.

Your words are full of feeling and promise for those who doubt the power of love and kindness to grow hope. I love the honesty.
