On this earthly shelf
Im in search of me
There is no reflection
for me to see



What I thought I would find
is not there at all
Reflection where did you go
how did you so badly fall



It is said good intentions
pave the road to hell
Is that my final destination
Oh God please tell



The pot of gold in life I have searched
of which money plays no part
Just to be understood
by those held in my heart



But the monster within
I never thought to be me
I guess I have been blinded
to what others can see



Where am I to go
I really have not a clue
Im sure for me there is no land
of rainbows and birds of blue



What I felt was a for sure
a life long constant
but the blame is mine
I just cant be what they want



To myself I must be true
I am who I am... I do what I do
To hide that
I would then become who



So upon this earthly shelf
I was promised I would never be alone
There is worry what others might think
Where is that star that so brightly shown



I pray the price I have paid
is not to high
and what is needed and sought for
is worth the friend that was I



I thought I was friend
Yet to others the soul is born
So much that cant be understood
why by silence mine could so easily be torn



Its really not so bad sitting here
in this place within my comfort zone
No slashing words to lower self esteem
That strips my flesh from its bone.



There has to be a place for me
abundant with love and care
Not holding me against me
I dont know... It has to be Somewhere...
