I Remember 9/11

I Remember 9/11

A Poem by Doxophobia

September 11th
I remember you
A bird, a plane, out of the blue
Colliding and crashing
On our on soil
Crumbling and smashing
Our hearts
I was six years old, then
Sitting at school
Worrying about my pigtails
Did I look cool?
How do you define
Regret and sorrow
You took away lives
You did not ask to borrow.
Like a spoiled child
stamping their feet
You made hundreds of people
That weren't meant to meet
The light at the end of the tunnel
Quick like a bee sting
Quick like a hurricane
The winds soared
The angels sing
September 11th
I remember you
A bird, a plane, out of the blue
And as for the people
who no longer thrive
We remember this day
To keep your souls alive.

Beautiful tribute. I Al'so like the personal touch of describing your own experience/perception of that fateful day. I was pretty you g when it happened too, and it's crazy how much my view of 9/11 has changed between now and then--when it happened. I was more exhilarated than anything else tbh, because I knew it was a historic event. Now I'm much more sensitive to all the pain that it caused, even though I did not know anyone involved and was very isolated from the incident.

Good Job, I just wrote a short tribute poem also , it's a severe poem tho, not made for all.

I only remember my mother trying to push me upstairs as it played out on the television. It was a terrible, tragic event, and I've heard a number of witness accounts in school over the years, and known survivors and victims' families, and although I didn't actually know any victms, it is still a very personal event for me and Americans everywhere. This is a very solemn and powerful piece. Thank you.
