Alive

Alive

A Poem by Emma Garside

We try so hard sometimes for things we know we cannot have

Somethings that we know we don’t need nor even want, but still try.

Why?

Why do we put ourselves through stress, pain, discomfort and sadness for no reason.

The answer is simple really,

Because we have hearts.

We want to feel alive, want to feel them beating

And somewhere someone told us that in order to feel alive we need these feelings.

So we put ourselves through everything terrible in hopes that,

One day we will feel something magical

We want to feel content, love, joy and happiness.

Maybe one day we wont be as lost and believe in ourselves

And stop listening to the people who tell us we need sorrow in order to see the sun one day.

God they are wrong.

The sun will shine everyday,

Regardless of everything, it will shine.

We will shine,

The suns beams will bounce off each of us and we will reflect each others happiness

because we all are alive.

Good writing! IMO, this is better suited to prose, but motivational, nonetheless. Thanks for sharing!
