Routines

Routines
Routines help me heal
I was taught
So much
That I rejected
As a parent
As a woman
As a wife
As a citizen
As a Christian
As a human
I had to discover
What I am
What I believe
About myself
About women
About sex
About humanity
About politics
About faith
That took time
That took effort
Cannot change what was
Can only effect what will be
Change begins with choice
Choice leads to action
Action must be defined
Action must be repeated
Action must be conscious
Before it becomes automatic
Routines are Babysteps
Routines require Patience
Routine makes the artist
Routines will take me
To my goal
Routines make dreams
Become reality
Routines are the balm
Which sooth the pain
Routines bring me peace

Well-written poem describing one woman's journey toward change. " Change begins with choice." Never easy. Routines & habits foster a sense of security in the midst of change. Well–done!
