Simple Solutions

Simple Solutions

A Poem by A Lonely Larke
"

Nothing is ever that simple, is it?

"
If we spent as much time loving
as we did in hating eachother
Then we'd have far less tears;
less hurt from which to recover

if we spent as much time acceptin'
as we did judging our neighbors
then we'd have less fingers for pointing
and more arms for embracing one another.

Simple answers...
simple solutions...
When will we understand....

If we could stop all the wars
over whose God loves better
then we could all pray as we wish
different prayers, prayed together.

If we could stop letting boundries
be our main source of pride.
"Nation"'d have far less meaning
Our love would be planet wide

Simple answers..
simple solutions...
But we just don't understand

If We could accept how he lives
without comparing either's home.
We'd each have our own space to live
without us ever having to be alone.

If we'd respect each person for her deeds,
give equal measure to each word she says
Greater wisdom would be our reward
With no fool needed to tell her her place.

Simple answers...
Simple solutions...
We always fail to understand...

If we can still be friends and family
when we wear different shirts and shoes -
Then why can't we do the same
with our many different points of view.

Far too often we judge each other
oh yea - I too am guilty of this crime...
But today is today...not the past
So Let's leave the old hate behind.

Simple Answers....
Simple solutions...
Why can't we understand...

Once you understand we are all born...
And one day we each shall surely die...
We'll know we are truly not that different...
What separates you from her and I?

Can it really need be that hard
to make love our mission?
With open minds, open hearts
and open eyes..we'd have the vision...

the simple answer.
the simple solution..
At last...we will understand.

And:

These word relates to me on deeper level. Although, there are people who don't love themselves and others, you shouldn't change because of them. There are people who don't deserve to be loved, but there is nothing to hate either.

Focus on the positive side. My mum once said in Ibibio dialect, "El, don't pass an injured one because he is an enemy. Save him and then run away from him. One day your love will avenge you."
