Hasten the Dawn

Hasten the Dawn

A Poem by Eric Wagner

Tonight the moon casts a lonely shadow over ocean waves breaking before they reach the shore.

Tonight even the clouds are not near.

Tonight my heart beats but I don't feel the pulse.

I'm breathing but can't catch my breath.

People are talking but I can't hear the sound.

Time moves, but the clock is upside down.

Tonight I yearn to hasten the dawn, when tomorrow I can be back in my lovers arms.
