At Night

At Night

A Poem by Eric
"

I don't even know what to call this. It's just a string of thoughts about one topic.

"
The darkness is deep,
It wraps around me
Not friendly, but cold and harsh

For it blinds me,
Forbids the power to see
And hides dangers from me.

But I look ahead,
For above me
There is my friend, the moon.

The moon and the stars
Who watch over me
Pierce the night with their everlasting light.

I am comforted
And I close my eyes
So the darkness does not matter.

The cool air
Whistles through my hair
And it comforts me.

For this is my time to be myself
No worldy worries, no chores
I have all the time in the world.

For in reality
I know the truth
Is really like this:

The darkness is deep,
It wraps around me
But it is my friend, and this is my time.
