FABLES

FABLES

A Poem by Echoes of Eros
"

In such a lonely world... xo

"

Cracked glass

what was love

longing

lifting smiles

just a legend all the while

sad

in such a lonely world

faded flowers

fainter fragrance

wanted only

to protect you

secure you

protecting myself now

from more pain

where to go from here?

time fades away

love

easier said than done

messages unanswered

tried to show you love

unyielding

you lit the darkness

dancing hand-in-hand

now dancing alone

forgetting

life

it’s all just myth now

melded

now muted

so many wandering

wanting a warm embrace

clinging desperately

like snow in the shadows

are we strong enough

to make some sense of it all?

shadows fade

will we find our way back?

single strand of thread binds us

and you with a swaying knife in your hand.

It can be difficult to discern reality from fable...as when we are in love, we are taken into a magical fairytale and life seems like a fairytale itself. it can be heart-wrenching, when the mirror of our perfect fable shatters and shows us true colors of how love can be sometimes.

I could have read this many times and walked away...wanting more. Your presentation is stark and gives pulse to your every line, however brief they be.

I find sometimes that poetry doesn't require the clutter of punctuation. It gives a leaner look, as the reader intuitively knows where to pause.

Much enjoyed.

Aww ur welcome
the real punch...that is what we all absorb or nod and acknowledge. I have been there sooo many times... 'feel it' I ask... and I am not sure of what I get back, but I hold on to what I do get back. the words are interchangeable for so many love poems. what is really going on? Do you love more than her? Do you suspect you are braver and profess more? The burn of neglect, ignore, exploration... you or her... stop it. if you love send a message.. i love you or i think i love you.. put you in the spot and them. love is so wonderful, own it and only return it when it is warranted.

I found this enthralling to say the least, it is as if you are reaching out from the grave and hanging on by the merest thread waiting for someone...almost sinister... with a sharp knife, yet it is full to the brim with a longing I have seldom read. Beautiful, hauntingly so.
More please?

My pleasure :)
Severing the ties of a strong passionate love is not easy and if it's not of our own desire then it leaves us with so many questions and so much hurt. So nicely delivered Eros.
