Eyes closed

Eyes closed

A Poem by Edie Blue Starfish

Even with my eyes closed I can see you
my eyes move to trace every curve of your face
your dark eyes,
the way the corners of your mouth raise into a smile
and your hand runs through your hair
the tattoo on your arm, black ink braided into Celtic print
I can see your hands reaching to pull me close
as I trace my hands across the scars on your arm,
every line etched in my mind
and when I breathe in I inhale the scent of you
natural, musky
I can feel, see and smell everything
reliving every moment in which I exposed my heart
kept safely tucked inside my plump chest
your hands cupped tenderly upon my breasts
with my eyes closed
I can see the difference between you and me
with my eyes closed, I can dream.

Indeed we often see much more with our eyes closed. In reflection we also see more as the small things become more prominent and significant. I once went to a mental health lecture about wellbeing and the professor made us close our eyes to experience things. Stop and smell the roses was his message.

That is something we too often forget to do, stop and smell the roses. Thank you John.

Oh yes, close the eyes and the memory takes over. You can see more with your eyes shut tight. I like where this poem took me. I closed my eyes and saw my Dad. He died 28 years ago, but he was right there with me. Thank you for that Edie.

Thank you for the great comment. :)
The greatest gift we have is definitely our memory.
Good or bad, we can lock or unlock times and moments just by shutting our eyes.
Nobody dies in your mind, they just drift in and out.

you are welcome
it's amazing what we can see and what we can imagine with our eyes closed...was in a psychology class at SIU one semester...and we had to walk all around campus blindfolded trusting the person who was leading us...in love we trust as well, our heart may be blindfolded, yet we trust that person intimately.
