The Superstar Carrot

The Superstar Carrot

A Poem by papaed
"

A carrot's story

"

sad carrot beneath the earth

dreams of light and brutal birth

absorbing food from the soil

its only possible toil

shocked carrot gently tugged

from the soil to be hugged

by a dirty child’s little hand

and piled with others on the land

scarred carrot in the basket

wonders if this is a casket

till he’s placed within a sink

and scrubbed until he’s almost pink

shiny carrot with orange skin

cannot show his happy grin

his feathery crown is trimmed short

and he looks like a good sport

sexy carrot gets painted eyes

he’s part of a big surprise

now he has smiling red lips

and hears practiced scripts

surprised carrot in a play

will not be served on a tray

braided paper legs and arms

and a necklace with little charms

sporty carrot will entertain

and struggle not to be vain

with strings from hands and feet

he’s glad he’s not a red beet

superstar carrot in the spot light

dancing away into the night

a little stage gave him the way

to celebrate a child’s birthday

only you could spotlight a vegetable, and make it shine on the paper. Nicely done. There is a magic to this piece....like a fairy tale for a child. Well scribed my friend. I've missed your writing.
