If Only For Tonight

If Only For Tonight

A Poem by Bee

Tonight I am drunk with pain,
starts from my bruised stance
goes up past my veins
I watch my skin turn red
as I feed on myself
Tonight I can be anything else
I made a flowing river of red
as I sit still and quiver
my desire wanes, hope grows thinner
Tomorrow I will let the sea eat my soul
the ocean's grey waves, oh they can take it all
Tonight I am high off hurt
It couldn't have been your joint
your needles have no worth
the tracks on my arms,
they're quite the sight
the pain has left me,
             if only for tonight

"if only for tonight".... If only for moments or even a moment! The ugly side of addiction portrayed in the various forms not that, in my opinion, there's any fair (decent) side to ANY addiction. Great imagery and excellent phrases.
