a pattern of errors

a pattern of errors

A Poem by Jake Martin

sweet as the science
drifting, forever lost inside
a dark and spiritless jungle
proceeding to touch upon you

feeling alone now
the mind starts wandering off into
a laundry room full of clothing
stained with all the memories of you

the reflection that you see is not the thing you should explore
straying from the path you’ve walked upon before
but you cannot live without knowing what’s in store, can you?

disable the pages and papers and sound
fly in the air and then land without hitting the ground
you’d think it’s a difficult task
even though it’s a question i ask
only myself

looking above, you see your own light
but never around to convince yourself that you are right
cause really everyone is wrong
and that’s why you’re singing your song

but no one really knows
if any of this is real
forward, reverse and missing the wave
you can show me the pictures and all, but it’s not the same

oh, my dear friend, allow me one more
we all love each other when we’re all passed out on the floor
i try to do these things with class
perception is all just a mass
of illusion

you fly without moving, you toke up the green
they give you their labels but things aren’t at all what they seem
the thunderstorm of joy was missed
instead it’s all a fine mist
