Seek What You Need

Seek What You Need

A Poem by danielle.
"

Some people have a genuine gift for helping others and truly make the world a better place.

"

A life foot loose and fancy free

Without hardship or tragedy

Still, knowing how it could have been

If I’d been born another me…

Life goes on as time decree

Then one day I awoke to see

For all I’d gained in time the cost

Was that somehow I’d gotten lost.

The threads of life became entangled

Important parts were being strangled

In matters of the mind and heart

At times I felt I’d fall apart.

It started to affect my health

I knew deep down I needed help

So I took a leap of faith

And called a number off the page.

I don’t know if I believe in fate

But some serendipity took place

Because I found exactly what

I needed in this tricky spot.

You see, nothing big has really changed

But somehow, everything’s ok

In knowing what’s within is enough

I just required a little push.

I am my own secret weapon

With thanks to my professional friend

Worth infinitely more than what we exchange

The sky is the limit at the end of the day.

This is a great little story in a poem. I'm amazed at how much ground you covered without going on & on, but just touching on the moments along the way just the right amount to show your meaning. I love your rhyme & rhythm, plus your straightforward style. I'm reminded of the years I spent volunteering for suicide hotline . . . most of the callers just needed to hear someone say, yeah, I feel like killing myself too, sometimes. Honesty can often be the best answer (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
