Of all kept and left behind
I walk away myself defined.
A lesson learned in human kind;
Love is love but lust is blind

Alchemy fades to oblivion.
Sorrow saved to feel alone
For stolen kisses and daydreams unbidden.
A treasure uncovered again to be hidden

"Lust is blind" is the phrase that stuck with me, perhaps even more of a summation that just a line in the first stanza. Yet, lust drives us, eyes wide open, often to a tragic, regrettable destination. After, we ask ourselves "why?" Did we close our eyes and jump, perhaps out of desperation or loneliness, revealing ourselves... maybe too much to a stranger? That's what I asked when I read the last line, "A treasure uncovered again to be hidden." Nice work, Elle!

Live us live but lust is blind hmm I don’t kniw while I see just us blind I think live may be as well. We seem to selectively ignore a persons faulrs when in live. Maybe because we forgive them as we measure our own faults alongside? Interesting thoughts

Hello Tate.
I feel that in a romantic sense it is the lust that blinds and the love that is enduring, well in my experience. Like during the ‘honeymoon phase’ everything is peachy and as you say we probably do measure our faults against each other, maybe this brings greater acceptance, but in most cases the feeling fades. The little things that you could accept or could not see (or were not shown!) can start to grate on you. Do the parts you ‘love’ outweigh the parts you don’t? Can you learn to accept and understand enough of that person to forge a lasting connection? I think when you can then it is love.
